Recording diary archive

Par Anaon Le 29 juin 2006

By the way, I decided to create a recording diary that will be located on the Magmor’s website. I think it will be easy and better to have a special diary for the making of the album. And this Blogger place is so dedicated to everything else ;)
>> The online recording diary will be found here

Now playing: ENCHANT A Blueprint Of The World

It’s interesting how I can easily change my mind about sound and recording ;) because, I finally made some tryings with my Studio Projects microphone and it’s far better for my acoustic guitar indeed. The sound is very different because of the microphone of course and it’s interesting to see how it can change the sound.

Anyway, I’m currently recording A Kind Of Heaven, it takes a lot of time because of the songs arrangements, the tempo changes, the will to be clean, the fact that I’m alone in this, well, it’s a good adventure though. Really emotional and… source of reflexion on who I am and what I can do. D-oh!

Acoustic guitar recording

Par Anaon Le 28 juin 2006

Now playing : MIKE OLDFIELD Voyager

Hello,

As you may read in my other diary, I received yesterday the long awaited acoustic guitar. So I started the recording of the acoustic parts today. Well it was more a first try, thinking about how to place the microphone for the better sound and this kind of technical stuffs.

So I decided to use my Oktava MK12 mainly rather than my Studio Project C1. I just found the sound more “airy”, more brillant indeed. I record one take with the microphone pointed to the neck and another to the bridge for a stereo result. I’m quite happy with the sound, thanks to this beautiful chinese guitar ;)
So the recordings of the acoustic parts will take some days I suppose, because the parts are not that easy to play and there’s a lot of acoustic parts…

More to come soon…

Yamaha LL16 acoustic guitar

Par Anaon Le 27 juin 2006

Yamaha LL16
Now playing: ANATHEMA A Moment In Time DVD
Drinking : Tullamore Dew Irish whiskey
Mood : Alone

Hi everyone,

Today has been brighter not because of the sun, not because of the world cup, but because of the arrival of the so much awaited brand new acoustic guitar. And what a great feeling to open the box and see this really good hardcase, protecting the beautiful chinese 6 strings. It seems to me quite light to carry and the finition is really good. What about the sound? Well, it’s just that I never had an acoustic guitar before. The sound is pure, wide, warm and bright and the neck is easy to play for me who played on cheap acoustic guitar. A real pleasure! I can’t wait to record the acoustic parts for the Magmor’s album ;)

More about this guitar for the geeks friends:

  • TOP: Solid Engelmann Spruce
  • BACK & SIDE: Solid Rosewood
  • NECK: 3-Ply: Mahogany-Rosewood-Mahogany
  • FINGER BOARD: Ebony
  • BRIDGE: Ebony
  • BODY DEPTH: 3 15/16” 4 15/16”
  • NUT WIDTH: 1 3/4”
  • TUNING MACHINE: Die-cast Gold
  • COLOR: Natural
  • FINISH: High-Gloss

That’s a really really good new toy for my music, because nearly of my songs needs acoustic guitar (whichi is quite logical seen as I mostly write everything on acoustic guitar).

Trapped between what I am

Par Anaon Le 25 juin 2006

C A T H A R S I S
I’ve been a hungry and holy man
Trapped between what I am
And want to be
I disowned my mind
And denied my heart
Inspiration set me free
Reklinde the fire
Of what’ll be
I see the fixed mark in the mirror
The north star,no need to fear
Stop, I’m not time’s fool
Just a nomad
Searching for life
Should I kill what gives me life
No, I’ve got to feel this
I’ve got to win this fight
She sanctions my right
I’m down on my knees
She refuted the meek
She offers the world
The world I seek
I see the fixed mark in the mirror
The north star,no need to fear
Stop, I’m not time’s fool
Just a nomad
Searching for life
You know the heart fuels the mind
Alleviates the grind
Gives reason to strive
Drawing strenght from the sky
Knowing nothing is wrong
How sublime a thing it is
To suffer and be strong

Ca me touche énormément et m’aide à comprendre certaines choses. “Just a nomad searching for life”…

A propos
